Creating a New Vision for North Berkeley BART Parking Lots

Do you have ideas about what you’d like the area around North Berkeley BART to look like? The area has been identified by BART as a potential site for new housing, although no specific plan has been approved.

That’s why we want to hear from you.

Please submit your ideas for the area — bordered by Sacramento, Delaware, Acton and Virginia streets - in written form, as photos, diagrams or designs. Below is a map of the area, with some details provided by BART about the limitations of the site.

The submissions do not need to be technical in nature, only a broad vision for the type of development you’d like to see on this parcel. Submit ideas to our office by emailing bcampbell@cityofberkeley.info. They can also be mailed or dropped off at our office, 2180 Milvia St. 5th floor.

The ideas will be compiled and shared at an Open House on Saturday, October 13, 4-6pm at
the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Avenue (at Martin Luther King Jr. Way)

The Mayor’s office will pass along all suggestions to city planners as part of the ongoing discussion.

For more background information on why BART is considering developing housing at the site, please take a look at a presentation the agency made earlier this year.

Together, we can come up with a plan that is appropriate for the existing neighborhood and addresses Berkeley’s dire need for housing. We hope to see you there.
